Brazilian Embassy in Washington and the American publishing house Scholastic, the greater in the pertaining to school book sector, had joined to create the "Discover Brazil", an initiative to educate students of 11 the 13 years in U.S.A. on Brazil. The didactic material that started to be distributed this month in the schools of Washington, initially, is a brochure of the size of a book, folding in 8 pages with a great map of the country in the central part. It has the colors of the Brazilian flag and is richly illustrated with graphs, photos, tables and texts that teach pupils on the population, language, geography, the main historical events, the industrial and commercial activities, the sports, the cultures and animals.
Children still are stimulated to compare data of Brazil with the ones of the United States and to answer to a series of questions that approach the diverse subjects of the country. A great stimulaton is the competition who award the best writing on Brazil. The winning pupil takes a computer, donated for the Itautec company. Already the professor of this pupil, does not go to have of whom to complain: he will go free for one week in the paradisiac Fort Beach of the Fort, on Bahia (www.aprendiz.com.br)
