Each
people has its proper way of being. This skill appears in day-by-day,
on the way to do things. It also appears well strong in the culture.
Or either, in musics, the parties, histories, legends and dances
of the people. Mostly in those that are older or traditional. Everything
this form the folklore.
Brazilian
folklore is one of richest in the world. Imagine a bedspread of
multicolored mixture of geometric figures and textures. Thus it
is our folklore, that is a result of the meeting of different peoples
who had formed Brazil, mainly the aboriginal, the African and the
European.
The
term folclore was created by an english archaeologist (studious
of old things), William John Thoms (1803-1885), that studied the
culture of the European people. In 22 of August of 1846, he published
an article with the heading "Folk-lore", in the magazine
The Athenaeum, considering the creation of the term, that congregates
the words octopus (folk) and lore (culture), or either, popular
culture. So, on 22 August is commemorated in all Brazil as the Folklore
Day.
Saci-pererê,
feijoada, straw slipper, trick of hide-hide, samba, pans, horseshoe
behind the door, carnival and soccer
To really know the Brazilian
folklore maybe would be necessary to dedicate a entire life.
That
was for instance what the studious Luis
Camara Cascudo did. Thanks to his research and unfatigable work
today there are a lot of register on the beauty of the Brazilian
popular culture. On this August month we will be approaching a little
of the some forms where the Brazilian folklore appears and related
by Camara Cascudo and others.
Know here one of the most beautiful
legends on brazilian folklore.
