Today the Brazilian carnival became known in the entire world. So known, that sometimes it seems that Brazil is this: soccer, party and Carnival. Well, it´s Brazil, but it´s more too. Also, most of that is divulged on the Brazilian Carnival is just a small part of this party. In general, what much people know or already saw in photos is the bigger samba schools parade. In this parade, great groups of almost four thousand people compete. Each School tries to make the prettiest parade. Each school presents to public a samba-plot, or either, a music that counts a history and that participants sings and dances throughout almost one hour of parade in the avenue. Each school goes for the parade with well-make and colored fancies. People are divided into defined groups, called "alas", or sections. Each section shows with its fancies and colors a part of that the school samba is singing: for example, some pass of the history of Brazil. There are also enormous cars, with sculptures. These cars are pushed and bring gigantic pictures, that helps to show what samba is counting. On Rio De Janeiro this parade currently happens in a special place for this, the Samba Passarela, or "Sambadrome". The party passes every year in the television, in two days, with almost twelve hours of parade. This is the parade of the biggest schools. There are many other minor schools. But the party does not only happen there, on Sambadrome. It happens mainly in the streets, all country. It is a party made for the common people. Each people, by itself, invents a fancy and goes for street. Skeleton fancy, Carlitos, clown, mans dressed of woman, everything which imagination creates. It comes one person, another and in a little, people leaves dancing on the streets. At least by some days, the problems go far...
These groups are called crews or "blocos". It takes the streets of the Brazilian cities during beginning of the year until February middle. They sing old carnival musics, but also they invent new. Musics that jokes on government, speaks about famous people or country situation on a funny way. On many neighoborhoods there are groups like these. Some crews are enormous, as the Ipanema Band. It paraded first time on 1965 and today it takes to streets almost ten thousand foliões.
A crew on streets on carnival Beginning of Brazilian carnival Carnival starts a long time ago, more or less in 16 th Century, when Portuguese immigrants brought the play called "Entrudo". On that time, Carnival was the following one: people goes to streets and played all type of liquids and powder, including some that gave itch, on others. On 19 th Century, richest people had found other ways to play Carnival. They had brought of Europe, for instance, Balls of Masks and the parade of carriages on streets, with groups of people fancied. At this time, started to finish slavery in Brazil. Many blacks, after freedom, went for places where they could stay in the biggest cities, mounts and rollback. Many blacks, specially from Bahia, had come to Rio de Janeiro. First favelas had also appeared thus and black communities. Over there appeared samba, samba schools and the Carnival. The first samba school received the name of "Let it Speak", and was established in 1928. On years 30, 40 and 50 several others would be born. At this time, parades were in the center of the city of Rio de Janeiro, on street. On 1984 Sambadrome was constructed, a definitive way for the parade. Samba schools had started to grow and to organize. Today, this part of the Carnival involves much money. But, between the simple people, on streets, the party is alone starting one more time!
